3 dimensions of interaction design

An Interaction Design approach is important when designing a product for interaction. There are three main dimensions that must be considered to achieve success in interaction design. These elements are object, scenario, and behaviour.

object
The object is about the physicality of the product that is being designed. For the designer, it means considering the form, function, visual aesthetics, graphics, textures, materials, interaction, manufacturing costs, etc.

scenario
Understanding the scenario is incredibly important in order to design for a certain context and user. It encompasses physical and cognitive aspects as well as social references. Through these lenses, interactions between people in different contexts are explored in order to understand the information needs.

behaviour
Successful design of a product should include how it behaves when interacting with the user. The understanding of peoples behaviours, input and output mechanisms is an important part of designing for a specific interaction and user. The behaviour brings the scenario and object together and triggers activity  from the user.
